Malaysian Prime Minister referred to US Trade Agreement as ‘99.9% concluded’
BlockBeats News, October 22nd. Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim stated that after US President Trump imposed high tariffs on Malaysian exports to the US, the country is about to reach a trade deal with the United States. Anwar announced to the media in the administrative capital Putrajaya on Wednesday evening: "I believe that 99.9% of the issues have been resolved," and the remaining issues "will be finalized at the Cabinet meeting on Friday."
Both Malaysia and the US plan to conclude the negotiations while Trump is in Kuala Lumpur later this month to attend the ASEAN Summit. Currently, Malaysia faces a 19% tariff on exports to the US, and Trump is considering imposing tariffs on semiconductors, a move that has been viewed as a major concern by Southeast Asian countries.
